Why Summer Sucks

I know everyone looks forward to summer. It's been a long year of hitting the books and you're practically on your knees begging for summer to come sooner. Sure you look weird kneeling on the sidewalk, but we're all to sleep deprived to care. Once spring break rolls around with it's teasing ways, we're all just pretty must waiting around for summer, right? Wrong! Personally, I strongly dislike summer. So strongly, that when people complain about it not arriving soon enough, I almost box their ears. Let's talk about some of the reasons summer is not all it's cracked up to be.
  1. It's boring. Summer is a bunch of college students sleeping in until two in the afternoon and then catching up on TV shows until they're eyes are too droopy to stay awake any longer. Summer is so unproductive, it makes me look forward to school.
  2. It can be awkward. You come back from school and you are immediately bombarded with people talking about making plans to see you while everyone is home. Not only do you not hang out with most of these people, but when you do, it can get pretty uncomfortable. How were you ever friends with these people?
  3. Getting a job is hard. Most people I know don't even bother trying to find a job. Everyone who's hiring has a million college applicants you are all equally unqualified to do anything or they want to hire someone for more than just one summer. You have to have some serious connections in order to get a job nowadays.
  4. It's too damn hot. I live in Southern California. Sure, everyone says we have perfect weather, but as a life long resident I'm here to tell you that that is a down right lie. One day it's 99 degrees outside and the next day it can be 62. The weather is never consistent enough in order to get used to the heat, so you're just stuck feeling the overwhelmed all summer.
  5. There's always someone cooler than you. Facebook ruins our lives. You're always going to have that one person who posts dozens of pictures of their wonderful trips to wonderful places while you're stuck being jealous from behind a computer screen. Why do I even have a Facebook?

Talk about summer all you want, but I know the truth and I'm going to scream it from the mountains for as long as I live! Don't say I didn't warn you.
