When You Have Nothing to Blog About

Blog are cool and blogs are trendy. You can have any kind of blog you want and people will probably read it, even if it's only because they love and support you. Blogs are fun to have, but they're a lot of work if you're trying to be consistent. So what do you do when you have nothing to write about?
There are a lot of different approaches you can take to getting inspired. You may already have some in your repertoire, but here's a few more just in case.
  1. Read up: It's easy to just dismiss your blog when you have nothing to write about, but in case you don't want to fall into that trap, look up what other people are blogging about and an idea will probably pop into your head. However, be weary of plagiarism. People don't like when you copy their stuff.
  2. Take a break: Instead of sitting in front of a blank computer screen waiting for inspiration to hit you, take a deep breath and step away. Watch some TV, go for a walk, hang out with your friends; do whatever you need to do to take your mind off the fact that you have no idea what to write about. Something will come to mind when you least expect it.
  3. Look through your old stuff: It's good to revisit the past. Nostalgia is great for inspiration. Look through your past journals or through things you highlighted/underlined in your favorite books. Heck, sometimes it's even helpful to look at old blogs.
  4. Start writing about yesterday: As weird as it may sound, writing about what you did in previous days often provides a little spark to get you going. Went to the library? Write about exactly what went down. Some small detail about the day can offer you a topic that you never knew you wanted to write about.
  5. Write about your feelings: As dumb as it may sound, writing about your feelings is both cathartic and useful to others. Not to say that this should be a Dear Diary moment, but write about how certain events or happenings made you feel. People tend to be able to relate to each other that way. Who knew?
Again, you may already have your ways of getting inspired, but I bet at least one of those was new. Don't lose hope fellow bloggers, there's always something that new to write about, even when you don't think there is. Keep calm and write on.
