How A Grinch Saved Christmas

For those who aren't afraid to question the spirit of the season. For my fellow Grinches everywhere.
What do you want for Christmas?
Oh, nothing.
No, really. What do you want? I'm on my way to the mall.
I seriously don't want anything. I'll see you at the party.
How can you not want anything? Is (so-and-so) getting you something good?
No. I've decided to stop receiving gifts for Christmas.
That's cute. Why in the world did you decide that?
You know how I've always had a particular disdain for the holiday season?
Yeah?
Well I figured out that it's the bullshit that I'm tired of.
What is that supposed to mean?
Ever since I could remember, people have been mad at each other through the shopping and have been frustrated through the decorating only to put on a good face Christmas morning for the presents.
Well the holidays can be stressful, we all know that.
But it's more than that. My family/friends and I could be on bad terms for whatever reason and for one day of the year, they decided that they like me again for the sake of Christmas. It's like everyone has agreed to buy each other's love for one day out of the year.
Would you rather them try to buy your love the whole year?
It'd be nice if they didn't feel the need to try at all.
Sounds to me like you're just being a grinch.
Well, who decided that Christmas was about getting gifts?
Baby Jesus got gifts.
Baby Jesus came to save all of humanity. We're all just a bunch of sinners.
That's dark.
Where did this Santa guy even come from? And why is he associated with Jesus' birthday?
I think you're reading too much into this.
I think you're not.
So you're done with presents?
I think so.
Wouldn't Christmas be ruined without them?
Isn't Jesus' birth ruined with them?
